Constitutive co-suppression of the GA 20-oxidase1 gene in tomato leads to severe defects in vegetative and reproductive development

▶ Tomato plants silenced for GA20ox1 showed dwarfism and modified leaf shape. ▶ Such plants showed highly reduced fertility due to defective microsporo- and microgametogenesis. ▶ When pollinated with control pollen, they produced seedless fruits due to seed abortion (stenospermocarpy).
