Production of human tetraspanin proteins in Escherichia coli

► Seventeen integral membrane human tetraspanins were screened for expression in Escherichia coli. ► Detergents for solubilization were screened using GFP-FSEC. ► Three human tetraspanins were possible to purify in biochemical amounts. ► The samples were characterized by gel filtration and SDS gel electrophoresis.
