A simple and efficient protocol for the production of recombinant cathepsin V and other cysteine cathepsins in soluble form in Escherichia coli

► We have produced recombinant procathepsin V in soluble form in Escherichia coli. ► The zymogen was activated autocatalytically at 30 °C. ► The protocol also proved successful for the production of other cysteine cathepsins.
