Cloning, expression and purification of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar, L.) neuroglobin

► Salmon neuroglobin (sNgb) was cloned and heterologously expressed in Escherichia coli. ► High quality sNgb was obtained when expressed at 15 °C with aminolevulinic acid. ► sNgb reacted strongly with a sNgb specific antibody. ► Homology modeling showed that sNgb possesses typical psychrophilic features.
