High reliability transformation of the wheat pathogen Bipolaris sorokiniana using Agrobacterium tumefaciens

► We report the optimized and highly reliable protocol for ATMT of B. sorokiniana. ► The procedure is simple and has better transformation rates as compared to PMT. ► The fluorescence markers DsRed and EGFP were successfully expressed in the fungus. ► Southern blots revealed random and single copy integration of the reporter genes. ► Microscopic studies of hyphal fusions and in planta colonization were performed.
