Multidrug resistance gene expression and ABCB1 SNPs in plasma cell myeloma

► We investigated the expression of five prominent MDR genes in plasma cell myeloma. ► We suggest that ABCB4 is the most highly expressed in plasma cell myeloma. ► We also investigated the impact of ABCB1 SNPs on overall survival in plasma cell myeloma. ► We confirm that rs1045642 may mediate of overall survival in plasma cell myeloma. ► This effect is due solely to rs1045642 and not others within the common ABCB1 haplotype.
