Pitx genes are redeployed in adult myogenesis where they can act to promote myogenic differentiation in muscle satellite cells

► Pitx2 and Pitx3 are dynamically expressed in murine satellite cells. ► Constitutive expression of Pitx transcription factors reduces myoblast proliferation. ► Constitutive expression of Pitx transcription factors enhances myogenic differentiation. ► SiRNA-mediated knockdown of Pitx2 or Pitx3 reduces myogenic differentiation.
