Sex-specific perinatal expression of glutathione peroxidases during mouse lung development

► Glutathione peroxidases (Gpx) are antioxidants involved in peroxides neutralization. ► Sex-specific expression of GPx in perinatal BALB/c mouse lungs was studied. ► A lower Gpx1 mRNA level in male than in female lungs was observed just after birth. ► The latter was concomitant to a sex difference in lung Gpx enzymatic activity.
