► We investigated predator avoidance training in Australian Bilbies. ► Survival and behaviour of trained and control bilbies were compared. ► In the absence of predators, significant behavioural differences were observed. ► However, no differences were recorded in an environment with predators. ► Predator avoidance training may not necessarily improve reintroduction outcomes.
