Molecular characterization and immunological response analysis of a novel transferrin-like, pacifastin heavy chain protein in giant freshwater prawn, Macrobrachium rosenbergii (De Man, 1879)

► The cDNA encoding pacifastin heavy chain (Mr-PHC) of giant freshwater prawn was characterized. ► The Mr-PHC encoded a unique structure, which has never reported previously. ► The Mr-PHC transcripts were ubiquitously expressed, but low in hemocytes. ► The Mr-PHC transcripts could be significantly triggered by bacteria and β-glucan.
