												Irradiation at room temperature with 700 and 1500â¯keV H+ ions at a fluence of 1â¯Ãâ¯1014â¯ions/cm2 of titanium samples was performed. The samples were hydrogenated at 300, 450 and 600â¯Â°C to study the way hydrogen is absorbed in pure titanium before and after being irradiated. ERDA and X-Ray diffraction analysis results show an increment in hydrogen uptake when hydrogenation temperature as well as irradiation energy are increased. SEM analysis shows changes in titanium surface due to ion irradiation, as well as micro-cracks formed during hydrogenation. The use of light ions during irradiation made possible to improve hydrogen absorption in pure titanium.
