In vitro investigation of the interaction between pentachlorophenol and alkaline phosphatase by spectroscopic methods

► Interaction characteristics of ALP with PCP were investigated by spectroscopic methods. ► PCP has strong ability to quench the intrinsic fluorescence of ALP through static quenching procedure. ► Binding constants and thermodynamic parameters for PCP-ALP systems were evaluated. ► The energy transfer from ALP to PCP occurred with high probability. ► The secondary structure of ALP was changed slightly in the presence of PCP.
