Enhanced dehydrogenation of ammonia borane by reaction with alkaline earth metal chlorides

► Hydrogen release from AB is promoted by reaction with alkaline earth metal chlorides. ► Both decrease in dehydriding temperature and suppression of impurities are achieved. ► These improvements are attributed to tuning the reactivity of both B-H and N-H bonds. ► It brings insight into promotion of hydrogen release from borohydride-ammine complex.
