Synthesis, crystal structure, magnetism and electrochemical properties of two copper(II) furoyltrifluoroacetonate complexes with nitroxide radical

► Two compounds using the β-diketonate-copper(II) block were synthesized. ► [Cu(Ftfac)2(NITmPy)2] display isolated molecular units. ► The molecular moieties of [Cu(Ftfac)2(Tempol)] are interconnected through H-bonds. ► The chain conformation gives rise to unusual alternating magnetic interactions.
