Reactions of alkyl and aryl sulfides with a monocarbon platinacarbaborane anion

The reaction between the platinacarbaborane anion Na[Pt(PEt3)2(η5-CB10H11)] and diphenyl and di-tert-butyl disulfides has been investigated. A mixture of carbaborane and metal substituted species were isolated and their structures determined through NMR spectroscopy and single crystal X-ray diffraction experiments.
