Synthesis and luminescence properties of [Pt{4′-(Np1)-trpy}(CCPh)]SbF6 and [Pt{4′-(Np1)-trpy}{CC(CH2)2CH3}]SbF6 [4′-(Np1)-trpy = 4′-(1-naphthyl)-2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine]

The σ-acetylide complexes [Pt{4′-(Np1)-trpy}(CCPh)]SbF6 (1) and [Pt{4′-(Np1)-trpy}{CC(CH2)2CH3}]SbF6 (2) [4′-(Np1)-trpy = 4′-(1-naphthyl)-2,2:6′,2″-terpyridine] exhibit unimolecular 3MLCT emission in fluid solution and in a low concentration butyronitrile glass; but when the concentration is increased 3MMLCT emission is observed consistent with the solid state emission.
