Photocatalysis of chloroform degradation by μ-dichlorotetrachlorodipalladate(II)

PdCl42- and Pd2Cl62- catalyze the photodecomposition of chloroform, but not deuterochloroform. Catalysis appears to involve C-H bond breakage from an excited state association complex with chloroform.
