Assembly of two low-dimensional coordination polymers from Ag(I) and Cd(II) and 2,3-bis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine

Based on polydentate nitrogen heterocycle ligand bis-2,3-(2-pyridyl)pyrazine(2,3-bpp), two new complexes [Ag(bpy)(NO3)]2 (1) and [Cd(bpp)(NO3)2]n (2) are assembled under the same conditions. Because of the cation effect, 1 is a dinuclear discrete compound, while 2 presents 1D chain-like structure.
