Homonuclear and heteronuclear transition metal complexes by syn-proportionation reactions

Redox processes consisting of disproportionation and syn-proportionation reactions are reviewed. After an introduction and a survey of reactions aimed to show the large applicability in the field of synthetic coordination chemistry, examples of the preparation of bimetallic catalytic precursors via syn-proportionation reactions are reported and discussed.
