Synthesis, structural, Continuous Shape Measure and bond valence sum characterization of bismuth(III) complexes of substituted dithiocarbamates and their solvothermal decomposition

Geometrical distortions from iOh in tris(dithiocarbamato)bismuth(III) have been quantified by Continuous Shape Measure (CShM) analysis. BiS6 chromophore in [Bi(chmdtc)3] (1) is a distorted octahedron. The coordination geometry in [Bi(chedtc)3] (2) and [Bi(dchdtc)3] (3) should be described as distorted pentagonal pyramid. The higher BVS values observed in the present set of compounds support the fact that the Bi-S bonds are more covalent.
