Steric and electronic effects on Si-Ge bond lengths: An experimental and theoretical structural study of Me2Ge(SiCl3)2 and Me3GeSiCl3

The Ge-Si bond length in Me3GeSiCl3 is overestimated by theoretical methods by at least 2 pm - and the discrepancy increases as the level of theory is improved. For Me2Ge(SiCl3)2 the disagreement is significantly smaller.
