Synthesis and characterization of two new triazolate-aliphatic dicarboxylate bridged Zn(II) coordination polymers based on 2D layer motifs with different crystal packing

► Two new Zinc(II) compounds have been hydrothermally synthesized by reaction of Zn salt, Htrz with aliphatic acid. ► The two compounds contain 2D layer {[Zn4(trz)4]4+}n motif with different crystal packing (-AAA- for 1, -ABAB- for 2). ► Compound 1 displays a 2D layer structure. Compound 2 is a 3D (3,4)-connected framework. ► The solid of 1 and 2 is luminescent at room temperature.
