Syntheses and crystal structures of mononuclear and dinuclear (pentamethylcyclopentadienyl)iridium(III) complexes containing 2-mercaptobenzimidazole

2-Mercaptobenzimidazole (H2bimt) acts as a monodentate S-donating ligand in a mononuclear complex of [Cp*IrCl2(H2bimt)], while in the dinuclear complex of [(Cp*IrCl)2(H2bimt)(Hbimt)]PF6 H2bimt and the monodeprotonated Hbimt− bridge two Ir(III) centers in the μ-κS:κS and μ-κS:κN1 modes, respectively.
