The initial use of the 1-hydroxybenzotriazolate (btaO−)/acetate ligand “blend” in manganese(II) chemistry has yielded a neutral 2D coordination polymer. Complex [Mn3II(O2CMe)2(btaO)4(MeOH)2]n was prepared by the reaction of Mn(O2CMe)2 · 4H2O with btaOH in MeOH. The structure is based on centrosymmetric trinuclear units, which create the 2D network via 3.1110 and 3.2100 (Harris notation) btaO− ligands. The two crystallographically independent MnII ions within the trinuclear unit are bridged by one 2.11 MeCO2- group and two btaO− ligands. Characteristic IR bands are discussed in terms of the coordination modes of the ligands. The intra- (J1 = −3.7 cm−1) and inter (J2 = J3 = − 0.2 cm−1) magnetic exchange coupling constants have been obtained from Monte Carlo calculations.
The simultaneous employment of the 1-hydroxybenzotriazolate(-1) and acetate ligands in Mn(II) chemistry leads to an interesting 2D coordination polymer based on repeated, trinuclear units; the intra and intertrinuclear magnetic coupling constants of the compound have been obtained using Monte Carlo calculations.Figure optionsDownload as PowerPoint slide
