• Structures of molybdoarsonate clusters.

Hydrothermal reactions of MoO3, an appropriate metal salt, an imine ligand, an organoarsonic acid, and an acid mineralizer yielded a series of compounds of the M(II)–imine/MoxOy/RAsO32− family. Under the low temperature conditions of this study, molecular species predominated as illustrated by the isolated hexamolybdoarsonate clusters of (H2bpy′)2[Mo6O18(O3AsC6H5)2]·4H2O (1·4H2O) and [Co(phen)3][Mo6O17(OH)(H2O) (O3AsC6H5)2]·4H2O (2·4H2O) and the secondary metal decorated clusters [{M(bpy)2}Mo6O18(O3AsC6H4NH2)2] (M = Co(3), Ni(4), Zn(5) and [{Cu(dpyra)(H2O)}2Mo6O18(O3AsC6H5)2] (6) and the dodecamolybdoarsonate cluster (Hdpyra)2[{Cu(dpyra)(H2O)2}Mo12O34(O3AsC6H5)4]·6H2O (7·6H2O). The only extended structure is provided by the two-dimensional phase [{Cu(bpy)(H2O)}2Mo6O18(O3AsC6H4NH2)2]·3H2O (8·3H2O) (bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine, phen = o-phenanthroline, dpyra = dipyridylamine, bpy′ = 4,4′-bipyridine).

Hydrothermal reactions of MoO3, a metal salt, an organoimine and an organoarsonate yielded a series of bimetallic-oxo-arsonates. The structure of the 2-D [{Cu(bpy)(H2O)2}Mo6O18(O3AsC6H4NH2)2] is shown.Figure optionsDownload as PowerPoint slide
