Ion-responsive supramolecular fluorescent systems based on multichromophoric calixarenes: A review

Calixarenes are useful building platforms in the design of multichromophoric systems in which photoinduced phenomena (electron, charge and proton transfers, excimer formation and resonance energy transfer) are controlled by ions. The applications mainly concern ion sensing with high selectivity.
