Synthesis and characterization of functionalized thymidine as a potential carrier for cisplatin-like drugs

A new platinum complex containing nucleoside was synthesized by reacting K2PtCl4 with a functionalized thymidine. This bioligand was obtained by first reacting thymidine with solid sodium hydride and 1,3-diiodopropane, and then with ethylenediamine to give N3-(3-ethylenediamine)propylthymidine.
