Alteration of aluminium inhibition of synaptosomal (Na+/K+)ATPase by colestipol administration

The synaptosomal (Na+/K+)ATPase activity was significantly reduced in vitro by addition of micromolar AlCl3 to the reaction medium and in vivo when aluminium was administered daily to rats during 4 months orally. The aluminium inhibitory effect on synaptosomal (Na+/K+)ATPase was diminished by in vivo and in vitro cholesterol reduction.
