• State-of-the-art of H2O2-driven bioinspired manganese catalyzed aliphatic C–H oxidations is overviewed.
• Major milestones and selectivity issues are discussed.
• Available mechanistic data for manganese catalyzed C–H oxygenations with H2O2 are considered.

In this paper, the progress of selective oxidation of aliphatic C–H groups with H2O2 in the presence of bioinspired manganese complexes, from 1990s until present days, is overviewed. Major milestones in catalysts development, as well as practical issues, such as efficiency, regio- and stereoselectivity, are discussed. Possible mechanism of predictably selective (non-radical) C–H oxidations over novel aminopyridine manganese complexes is considered.

The emergence and progress of manganese catalyzed selective oxidation of aliphatic C–H groups with H2O2 is overviewed, with focus on milestones and insights into the mechanisms of those transformations.Figure optionsDownload as PowerPoint slide
