• Ruthenium(II) complexes were derived from the ligands having carboxamide donor centers.
• Resultant complexes were characterized using spectroscopic studies.
• Molecular structures of complexes were determined by X-ray crystallographic study.
• Redox properties of the metal center were determined.
• Nitric oxide reactivity and scavenging studies were investigated.
Two novel ruthenium(II) complexes [RuII(L1)(PPh3)2(CO)] (1) and [RuII(L3)(PPh3)2(DMF)] (2) derived from the carboxamide ligands L1H2 and L2H2 respectively (where L1H2 = N2,N6-dip-tolylpyridine-2,6-dicarboxamide and L2H2 = N2,N6-di(naphthalen-1-yl)pyridine-2,6-dicarboxamide) were synthesized and characterized. Molecular structures of complexes 1·CH3OH and 2·DMF were authenticated using X-ray crystallographic studies. Both the complexes were characterized using IR, UV–vis, elemental analysis, NMR and ESI-mass spectral studies. Electrochemical studies were performed to investigate the redox properties. Nitric oxide (NO) scavenging activity of these complexes was also observed with the help of Griess reagent reaction.
Novel ruthenium(II) complexes [RuII(L1)(PPh3)2(CO)] (1) and [RuII(L3)(PPh3)2(DMF)] (2) derived from carboxamide ligands were characterized using all the spectroscopic studies. Molecular structures of 1∙CH3OH and 2∙DMF were authenticated by X-ray crystallography. Electrochemical studies were performed to investigate the redox properties. NO scavenging ability of complexes was observed using Griess reagent reaction.Figure optionsDownload as PowerPoint slide
