In this article we present the synthesis and structural characterization of the coordination compounds trans-[InCl2(OPPh3)4][PhTeCl4], trans-[InBr2(OPPh3)4][PhTeBr4], cis-[InBr2(dmso)4][PhTeBr4] and cis-[InBr2(1,10-phen)2][PhTeBr4]. These complexes contain indium(III) and tellurium(IV) stabilized by hard and soft ligands. We have also discussed the facile tendency of the tellurium atoms to exchange their oxidation levels as well as the influence of the size of the ligands on the stereochemistry of the indium complexes.
