Order-disorder phase transition with associated cell-tripling in the (octamethylferrocene)(2,3-dichloro-1,4-naphthoquinone)2 charge-transfer complex

► The low temperature structure of (octamethylferrocene)(2,3-dichloro-1,4-naphthoquinone)2 was determined by crystallography. ► An order-disorder phase transition was accompanied by ring ordering and cell tripling. ► A Structural change occurred and was caused by steric interactions between the donors and acceptors.
