1,1,1,3,3,3-Hexamethyltrisilanylene-bridged bis(cyclopentadienyl)tetracarbonyldiiron and its derivatives: Synthesis, properties and molecular structures

The title cyclic complex [η5,η5-C5H4-Si(SiMe3)2-C5H4]Fe2(CO)2(μ-CO)2 and its ligand substituted derivatives [η5,η5-C5H4-Si(SiMe3)2-C5H4]Fe2(CO)(PR3)(μ-CO)2 (R = OPh, OMe, Ph, Me) containing exocyclic Si-Si bonds attached to the bridge have been synthesized and their properties examined with emphasis on the stability of the Si-Si bonds towards the intramolecular iron centers.
