The study on the interaction between seryl-histidine dipeptide and proteins by circular dichroism and molecular modeling

We find that the distance is remarkably 3.37 Å between the oxygen atom of the hydroxyl group of seryl-histidine dipeptide (O12) and the carbon atom of the amide bond (C34). It can be inferred that the nucleophilic attack on C34 by O12 causes the breakage of the hydrogen bonds of β-sheets.
