• The emission of Eu3+ depends on site symmetry and excitation wavelengths.
• The color of the samples was tunable by structure and excitation wavelength.
• The effect of W and Eu content on the properties of the samples was investigated.
A series of Eu3+ substituted double-perovskite Sr2CaWxMo1−xO6 phosphors were prepared by solid state reactions. The phase, photoluminescence and energy transfer of the phosphors were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), photoluminescence (PL) and luminescence decay respectively. It is found that the emission of the Eu3+ substituted double perovskites depends on both the site symmetry of the activators and the excitation wavelengths. Based on the decay analysis of Sr2CaWxMo1−xO6 matrix and Eu3+ doped samples, the energy transfer efficiencies between the host and activators Eu3+ were investigated. The results of the emission tunable phosphors indicate their potential applications in LEDs.
