Effects of strontium and heat treatment on the wear-corrosion property of Al-7Si-0.3Mg alloy

► Sr and heat treatment both enhanced the wear-corrosion resistance of A356 alloy. ► Microstructural change from addition of Sr reduced surface crack and material loss. ► Heat treatment reinforced α-Al and corrosion resistance, resulted in limited damage. ► Improvement from heat treatment is higher than that only caused by addition of Sr.
