Effect of different sintering aids on thermo-mechanical properties and oxidation of SiC fibers - Reinforced ZrB2 composites

► We produced SiC fibers reinforced ZrB2 using different sintering aids. ► The sintering additives affected properties, oxidation and machinability. ► The system containing Si3N4 had the highest mechanical properties. ► The composite containing MoSi2 had the highest oxidation resistance. ► ZrB2-SiC fibers have higher thermal shock resistance than ZrB2-SiC particles.
