Preparation of ZnO nanosheets by a novel microemulsion-based hydrothermal method

► We synthesized ZnO nanosheets via a novel hydrothermal method. ► The ZnO nanosheets exhibited a clearly electrocatalytic response. ► The ZnO nanosheets exhibited an intense green-yellow luminescence. ► We discussed the formation mechanism of the prepared ZnO nanosheets.
