Development of Au–In–Cd decoupler by a hot isostatic pressing (HIP) technique for short pulsed spallation neutron source
چکیده انگلیسی

In order to utilize the Au–In–Cd alloy as a decoupler for the MW-class spallation neutron sources, it is required to bond Au–In–Cd alloy to an aluminum alloy (A5083), which from the structural material of the moderator in the Japan Spallation Neutron Source. The hot isostatic pressing (HIP) technique is adopted to bond the Au–In–Cd alloy to the A5083 alloy in the form of the curved shape of the moderator vessel. We obtained an adequate bonding strength of 95.2 MPa, which was three times larger than the required design strength (30 MPa) under the conditions of a temperature of 535 °C, pressure of 100 MPa and a holding time of 1 h.
