Ovarian ultrastructure in virgin queens of Apis mellifera L. narcotized by CO2

► CO2 treatment did not changed the pattern of queen ovarian development up to 5 days. ► The protective effect of CO2 on cells did not persist on 15-day-old treated queens. ► Narcosis with CO2 did not interfer on acid phosphatase activity.
