Reaction pathway in the MoO3 + Mg + C reactive mixtures

► Mg + C mixtures as combined reducers for molybdenum oxide. ► Carbon reduction of MoO3 to MoO2 under the combustion mode starts at 500 °C. ► MoO2 reduces by magnesium and carbon at higher temperatures yielding either MoO2 or Mo + Mo2C material.
