This paper aims to investigate the effect of high magnetic field on the crystallization of Fe83B10C6Cu1 amorphous ribbons. Isothermal annealing processes of the amorphous alloy were performed at some temperatures for a given time with or without an applied magnetic field. These annealed samples were characterized using differential scanning calorimeter, X-ray diffraction, and transmission electron microscopy. It has been found that a 12 T magnetic field enhances the crystallization process of the amorphous alloy, and α-Fe was precipitated from the amorphous matrix at the temperatures used. The 12 T magnetic field greatly encourages precipitation kinetics of α-Fe at appropriate annealing temperatures and time. The volume fraction and number of α-Fe crystals in the alloys annealed under the 12 T magnetic field are larger than those in the alloys annealed without the magnetic field. The mechanism of high magnetic field on the crystallization of Fe83B10C6Cu1 amorphous alloy is to enhance the nucleation and growth of α-Fe crystals.
