Microstructure and mechanical properties of a spray formed and extruded AA7050 recycled alloy

- Machining chips of alloy AA7050 were recycled by spray forming and hot extrusion.
- The extrusion was followed by solution heat treatment and aging at three conditions.
- The processing route did not change significantly the composition of the alloy.
- Partial recrystallization was observed in the extruded condition.
- Aging at 120 °C/6 h gives mechanical properties above minimal requirements of AMS 4050.
