Superheat-dependent microstructure of molten Al-Si alloys of different compositions studied by small angle neutron scattering

► “Particles” of various sizes exist in Al-Si melts and their distributions change during thermal cycles. ► The dissolution and branching temperatures from density results explain the melt microstructures. ► There exists a temperature at which a molten alloy reaches a fully homogeneous state.
