Preferential dynamic recrystallization at original grain boundaries in the hot-rolling process of AZ31 alloy

► DRX preferentially occurred at grain boundaries in the hot rolling of AZ31 alloy. ► DRX slightly decreased the starting basal texture of matrix. ► DRX did not follow previous orientation gradient from original matrix. ► DRX orientation was influenced by the localized strain within shearing bands.
