Structural and magnetic properties of the ternary compounds Gd2Sc3X4 with XÂ =Â Si and Ge

► We determine for the first time the crystallographic properties of Gd2Sc3Si4 on single crystal. ► Gd2Sc3Si4 and Gd2Sc3Ge4 order antiferromagnetically and show at low temperature a metamagnetic transition. ► Gd2Sc3Si4 presents a higher Néel temperature.
