A six samples of YAG single crystals with crystallographic orientations and different doping concentration of Yb3+ ions (3 at.% and 25 at.%) were investigated to determine their thermal, elastic, optical properties. These properties are characterized by the thermal diffusivity, the ultrasound velocity, and the optical absorption coefficient. The lattice constant is also determined. The thermal diffusivity was determined from thermal wave measurements, the ultrasonic velocity was got from pulse echo method, and the absorption coefficient was received from classical transmission and reflection spectroscopy. The lattice constant was measured using the Bond's method. Obtained results showed that the thermal diffusivity as well as the velocity and lattice parameter decreases with growing concentration of Yb3+. Growing Yb3+ ions content also causes shift of absorption peaks to shorter wavelengths.
