Magnetic phase quantification of the UNS S32750 superduplex stainless steel

Phase quantification is of great interest to welding procedures qualification of superduplex stainless steels used in chemical and petrochemical industries. In the present work, samples of the UNS S32750 stainless steel were heat-treated and processed by different ways in order to produce different phase proportions and morphologies. The microstructures were characterized by optical microscopy and magnetic measurements. A simple expression correlating the magnetization saturation and the ferrite volume fraction is proposed. Coercive force did not change considerably with the phase amounts and morphology.
