• We prepared Li3V2(PO4)3/graphene with SiO2 composites via sol–gel method.
• The LVP/graphene with SiO2 enhanced the discharge capacity at 0.1 C.
• The charge-transfer resistance of LVP-SiO2 NP composite was also decreased.
We synthezised the Li3V2(PO4)3/graphene composite with different SiO2 sources as a cathode meterial for lithium ion batteries. The SiO2 nanoparticle are spherical shape and exist on the LVP surface observed by a scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The effects of different SiO2 sources in Li3V2(PO4)3/graphene composite were investigated by electrochemical performanc such as a galvanostatic charge/discharge, a cycling performance, and an electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), respectively. The LVP-mSiO2 displayed discharge capacity of 183 mAh g−1 in a potential range of 3.0–4.8 V and higher cycling performance. These improved electrochemical performance is attributed to the well dispersion SiO2 nanoparticles and low charge transfer resistance.
