NiMoO4·H2O nanoclusters with one-dimensional nanorods have been synthesized via a facile and rapid microwave assisted method. The formation mechanism of the NiMoO4·H2O is confirmed as speedy self-assembly process via controlling the reaction time using FTIR technology. The as-prepared NiMoO4·H2O nanoclusters have a uniform size of 3 μm and are composed of NiMoO4·H2O nanorods of about length of 1 μm and diameter of 100 nm, which shows a specific capacitance of 680 F g−1 at a current density of 1 A g−1, and good reversibility with a cycling efficiency of 98% after 1000 cycles. The excellent electrochemical performance makes the microwave assisted synthesis of NiMoO4·H2O nanoclusters a promising electrode material for supercapacitors.
